OSB Athlete Profiles

Jen Hazard Davis

Name: Jennifer Hazard Davis
Hometown: Boise, Idaho
College: FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY!
Current Residence: Hailey, Idaho
Occupation: Clothing Store Owner

Athletic Background:
Swim, Swim, swim! I started swimming when I was 6 for the YMCA. Swimming was my only sport growing up and I dedicated my life to “moving through the liquid” from 6yrs to 22years of age. My talent was sprinting; I was an All American YMCA swimmer and an Honorable Mention All American NCAA swimmer. I swam the 50 free and 100m breaststroke. Swimming took me to FSU where I did my first triathlon (forced by couch and hated it)

Personal:
I am married to an IM man, Bart Davis. We have been married 14 years and have an amazing daughter named Adia. I am active in Rotary and I am just ending my year as president for our club.

Goals:
IM Arizona in November 2008, Attend Olympic dist. Nationals and do well (Sept. 2008), Podium in my AG in as many races as I can. Try and find what distance is best for me!

Hobbies outside of Tris:
I live in the mountains out side of Sun Valley, Idaho one of the worlds best ski resorts. I love to snow ski, I try to Nordic ski, I love community service work through Rotary, dig being a mom and a wife. I also guest D.J. on our local alternative Radio station.

PRs:
Pre-Marty I had done two 70.3’s and did them both in 6:12ish and was in pain on the bike the entire time. After Marty I did my 70.3 in 5:32 and the bike felt great. I hold 2:30 on Olympic distance and with Marty’s help I plan on killing that time this year.

Why I Do This:
Why I do this??? Because I can. I love the direction and dedication to health that tri gives my life. I have met great friends and love the intense nut jobs that this sport attracts. After I swam in college I quit competing. It only took me a few races to awaken the competitor in me. It is a ton of fun to find a new sport and to challenge my body to do an endurance sport. I like to humble myself by watching the diverse group that finish the races; people with disabilities, over weight, cancer survivors, the list can go on and on.

Favorite Quote:
“what this world needs is an ocean in the mountains”

Favorite Team:
FSU Seminoles, Los Angeles Lakers, my daughters soccer team

Why I chose OSB?
I chose OSB because I knew Marty. Marty swam at FSU just as I was ending my career there; he impressed me then with his dedication and drive. Marty has since posted amazing results in the sport of Triathlon. What I like most when talking to Marty about coaching was his willingness to listen and to hear “where I was in my life and what my goals were for myself”. He does not offer cookie cutter program, he sets my training according to what is going on in my life. I was blown away with my results after my first 6 months of training with Marty. I doubted some of his directions, but stayed with what he was telling me and PRESTO I hit my PR. Marty has also worked with me through several injuries and has kept me fit while allowing me to heal!
