Background:

I played all the usual sports growing up - basketball, baseball, soccer, and focused all my time on baseketball from age 14 to 20. I got tired of sprained ankles when I started work , and sleeping til noon on the weekends with headaches. I also got tired of hairy legs, loose clothing, and tasty snacks, so I thought I'd do away with it all by starting triathlons. (Although I still have the hairy legs b/c my girlfriend will leave me if my legs are smoother than hers.)

So, I've done this for a little over 2 years now, and I've been working with Marty for 6 months.Since I started working with Marty, I've placed in 3 of the 4 races (top 3 in my age group), and I plan to set more ambitious goals for '07.

I chose OSB based on a phone call I had with Marty when I went thru the Joe Friel website. Very laid back and he has been great about shifting around my work & life schedule. Mostly, he was just easy to talk to, so I knew that would be very important for me.

I should probably list my profile as a team, b/c my girlfriend is the best for putting up with my training and early wake up calls. She wakes up to talk to me at 4:45am on Tuesday's & Thursdays for my morning swims, when she doesn't have to be at work until 8:30. She hangs out with me while I do a 2 hour trainer ride, just chatting and watching t.v. This has made it a whole lot easier and enjoyable. Even if this fits oddly into the profile, she deserves the press for any of my race achievements, so it's going in!

Goals:

I want to improve my half iroman distance times and qualify for the Clearwater 70.3 championship(hopefully in '07). Hard to put it on paper b/c it's a stretch, but Marty has helped me improve so much on basically 10-11 hours a week, so it may happen with this guy! Also, if I can ever have the time for the 15-16 hour weeks, I may consider a full IM in the next couple of years.
